Sophisticated search code

The search tool is one of the most sophisticated script-based searches there is. It incorporates job status, industry and location filters with keyword relevance text search. It also includes a "power search", giving job seekers even more choice over results.

Prepositions and general terms like 'job' are removed from the search. The system allows the site owner to specify such terms for each language running on the site. The search is broken up into its component words. Any commonly used separators like spaces, commas or semicolons can be used in any combination to separate the words.

Each record is scored for relevance based on a number of rules. The result is an intuitive and simple-to-use search that produces great results with a graphical scale - searching like this is vital on sites with hundreds or thousands of jobs.

Results listings and applications

Search results are displayed 5 (or such other specified value that the site owner configures) per page with a job summary and 'read more/apply' link. Each page will have next, previous and direct page links at the foot if the results span more than one page. Applications are made directly through the site, the candidate need not be logged in, but if they are, they will see a list of their CVs on the system enabling them to easily select which one to use for which job application.

Candidates

Candidates can create as many CVs as they like. For each CV, they can opt whether or not to make this information available to recruiters from either recruitment agencies, employers, or both/neither. Candidates can either copy and paste a CV into the system, or upload a Word Doc, HTML or .TXT version of their CV.

If the system is also running the optional Mail Agent then candidates can also save multiple search profiles, which will be executed daily by the mail agent, and matching jobs sent to the candidate by email.

Hot jobs

Candidates can use the 'hot jobs' feature to bookmark job openings that they wish to come back to. They can also apply to any combination of book marked jobs in one go. Each agency that uses the system can have their logo displayed on the 'featured agencies' page. Furthermore, each logo links through to a page containing a full profile of the agency.

Jobs management tools

The main jobs interface has a number of details that make the process of posting jobs as simple and time efficient as possible.

  • Sort jobs by date, ref. number, location or job title. Your preference is remembered and you can order ascending or descending

  • Find a job by reference number or keyword

  • Options to delete, clone or edit jobs on the system, as well as the ability to temporarily suspend jobs

  • Checkboxes let the user perform bulk operations like wiping or re-dating on multiple jobs at once

CV searching

Find CVs by number (find candidates you've looked at before) or use similar search tools to the front end job search. Our CV system allows the site administrator to allocate a rate at which CVs can be viewed (3 per day, 10 per 7-day period, etc.) which lets you prevent users from getting every CV when on a week's trial. Best of all, since the credits get refreshed after the time period specified, it's as low-maintenance to run as our slot-based jobs system.

Statistics

See which consultants' jobs have been viewed most and which have been applied to most. Information for the present and last two months is available together with totals for the agency.

Modify Client Profile

Every recruitment agency and employer on the system has a details about their company stored in a client profile. These details can be updated by the agency to ensure that they are current and accurate. They can even upload a logo that will be displayed by their jobs.
