The Role
Business Development Manager (BDM) Full Time
£35k pa plus 10% commission, Hatfield office based position (no remote/hybrid working)
- Identify revenue generating opportunities with non-member businesses, membership upgrades, sponsorship, and exporter focussed clients.
- To represent the organisation at Internal and external conferences, seminars, and events.
- To attend and contribute as requested at team meetings to share successes, pipeline activity, to gain support from team, and to be aware of core and new activities that can then be promoted to the wider membership audience.
- Actively post on social media, mainly LinkedIn in accordance with guidelines and expectations.

- Delivery of services and programmes
- To develop and maintain alliances and partnerships with other organisations where this will help us deliver services and programmes as requested by the Managing Director.
- To ensure that a responsive and high-quality service is provided to Members, businesses, and stakeholders.
- To contribute directly to income generating activities, as per specific targets
Objectives & Targets
- To grow and retain membership of in Hertfordshire to agreed targets.
- To arrange by appointment and attend face to face meetings with prospective members and existing member retention meetings, keeping a digital diary updated accordingly as required by the Managing Director.
- To attend external networking events, to be agreed with line manager to act as ambassador and to generate non-member leads. These events may be early morning or after usual working hours.
- As part of a group/team target, to attain a member retention rate of 85% of existing members.
- To support the generation of member attendance at all Business Events (breakfasts, monthly lunches, dinners, etc).
- To actively use social media channels such as Twitter and LinkedIn to promote the Chamber and its members, in line with the organisation’s Social Media Policy.
- Work with the Sales and Membership team to secure Event Sponsorships to build the revenue per month.
