The Role
We are looking for a reliable and adaptable Production & Warehouse Operative to join a growing team in Biggleswade to work a permanent AM shift 7am-4pm Monday-Friday.
This is a varied, hands-on role that combines electrical and mechanical assembly with warehouse and stock control responsibilities. You will support the production while also helping ensure our warehouse operates efficiently through stock management, goods in/out, dispatch, and general logistics.
The successful candidate will be flexible, practical, and happy to work across both production and warehouse operations depending on business needs. No two days are the same, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Production & Assembly
· Assemble mechanical components following technical drawings and assembly instructions.
· Carry out electrical wiring, crimping, cable management, and component installation.
· Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
· Perform functional testing and assist with quality inspections before products are dispatched.
· Prepare components and materials for production.
· Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality.
· Keep the workshop clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety procedures.
· Support continuous improvement initiatives within the production team.
Warehouse & Logistics
· Pick, pack, label, and prepare products and components for dispatch.
· Receive, inspect, and book in incoming deliveries.
· Maintain accurate stock records and support inventory management.
· Carry out regular cycle counts and assist with bi-annual stock takes.
· Organise warehouse storage locations efficiently and safely.
· Load and unload deliveries using appropriate manual handling techniques and forklift equipment.
· Operate a counterbalance forklift where required.
· Distribute stock and materials between two local sites using a company vehicle.
· Support production by ensuring components and materials are available when required.
General Responsibilities
· Work collaboratively across warehouse, production, engineering, and logistics teams.
· Demonstrate flexibility by supporting different areas of the business as workload demands.
· Follow company quality, health and safety, and operational procedures at all times.
Candidate Specification
· Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, assembly, warehouse, or engineering environment.
· Good practical skills with experience using hand and power tools.
· Ability to follow technical drawings, assembly instructions, and safe working practices.
· Counterbalance Forklift Licence.
· Full UK Driving Licence (travel between company sites will be required).
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
· Physically capable of manual handling and working in a hands-on environment.
· Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
· Basic IT skills for stock systems and production documentation.
· Positive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Skills (Training Provided)
· Experience assembling electrical or mechanical equipment.
· Experience with wiring, crimping, cable management, and electrical testing.
· Previous warehouse or inventory management experience.
· Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
· Experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
· PAT Testing or other workshop safety qualifications.
