The Role
We are seeking a Junior Purchasing Assistant to work on a temporary basis for approximately 2 months to support a procurement team in sourcing goods and services, maintaining inventory levels, and ensuring timely delivery of materials. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a basic understanding of purchasing procedures, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external vendors.
You must be available to start with immediate effect and able to commit for a minimum of 2 months.
Hours are 8.30am-5pm Monday- Friday at £12.83 per hour
Responsibilities
- Assist with placing purchase orders and tracking deliveries.
- Ensure internal office supplies are maintained
- Maintain accurate purchase records and update inventory databases.
- Communicate with suppliers to confirm order status, delivery timelines, and resolve issues.
- Obtain and compare quotes from various vendors.
- Monitor stock levels and work with departments to forecast future purchasing needs.
- Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies and budget constraints.
- Help maintain supplier relationships and evaluate vendor performance.
- Provide administrative support to the procurement team as and when needed
Candidate Specification
- Proven experience in a similar role or administrative position (preferably in purchasing or procurement).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with ERP systems is advantageous.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
